My daffodil bulbs have started coming up! Seeing the first few sprouts of new life pop up from beneath the cold soil puts a smile on my face every year.

Twelfth night has been and gone, the tree’s down and the decorations have been stowed safely away for another year – we’re now, undeniably in a New Year.

It’s that time of year – the nights have drawn in, the temperature’s dropped, and most of us are more at home in slippers, sitting on the sofa with the curtains drawn, and something good on the TV.

John’s a rugby nut. Always has been, always will be.

Last year, we created a building for a customer.  When Peter came to us, and although he wasn’t entirely sure, he thought he wanted a shed.

I can scarcely believe I’m typing this, but my daughter is 17 this week. It might sound cliched, but it really does seem like yesterday that I was holding her for the first time, and yet here we are, 17 years on, with zero holding taking place!

With half-term out of the way and time marching on towards the festive season, there’s little doubt that there’s a renewed chill in the air. And, without wanting to be a harbinger of doom, it’s best you get used to that chill, as the cold weather will last long into the early part of next year.

This October we celebrated 100 years of the family being here at de Bathe Farm.
