Why Should I Invest In a Garage Or Carport?

Protection from the Elements: Why it's worth investing in a Garage or Carport

At Shields, we specialise in wooden garages and carports. We know just how important it is to have a place to park safely at the end of the day.

For some people, their car, motorbike, or scooter is their pride and joy. For others, it’s a necessity to get them from A to B (and sometimes to C). But for many, keeping your car safe, clean, and out of the elements is incredibly important.

Whether you’ve got a Harley or Vespa you want to keep safe and sound in a garage, a BMW that needs shelter, or a Transit Van you need to keep secure, we’ve got the garage or carport for you.

What’s The Difference Between A Garage And Carport?

Quite simply, the difference is a door!

A carport (also known as a car parking shelter, cart house, carriage house or open-fronted garage) is an open-fronted shelter that is the perfect solution to protect your vehicle and keep the weather at bay.

Whereas a garage has four walls, a roof, and a door! Or if you’re opting for a double garage, two doors.

All of our garages and carports are built with a substantial wooden framework. We know they'll stand the test of time and look easy on the eye. The idea is to create something that’s both functional AND aesthetically pleasing. We work with you to create the bespoke solution that’s right for you.

What Are The Benefits Of A Wooden Carport?

Every wooden carport we build is tailored to your requirements, so you know it’s a solution that will last.

Speaking of lasting… our timber is pressure-treated to give you lasting protection. We’ll also remove any old buildings and clear the site leaving you nothing to worry about when it comes to installation!

You’ve got a choice of roof material and colours so that it matches your house and garden AND we’ll even give advice on planning permission and help prepare applications where necessary.

As we mentioned earlier, you can choose between single, double, or triple carports and as standard, all of our wooden carports have a minimum headroom of 2m.

Gutters and rainwater goods are included, and we’ll install a waterproof membrane under the roof, so you don’t need to worry about any leaks!

What Are The Benefits Of A Wooden Garage?

Your enclosed garage is built to last with a substantial wooden framework, pressure-treated timber and a bespoke build to the exact size YOU want.

If you’re looking for storage, security, and the ability to lock a garage door, our wooden garages are the right option for you.

As with our wooden carports, we’ll remove any old buildings and clear the site. We'll also advise on planning permission and help with the preparations of any applications.

All of our garages are fitted with secure heavy-duty doors with galvanised bolts. You can also opt for a powered roller door if you’re looking for that extra touch.

The same features as the carport also apply, including a waterproof membrane. You’ll also get natural light in your garage thanks to the addition of roof lights.
