We recently did a case study showing the versatility of our buildings. It focused on providing the perfect ride-on mower storage for a customer. It doesn’t matter what you propose to use your building for, the basics we start with are the same.
This is often one of the first questions we usually get asked. The answer is a resounding NO! Within reason, you can have any size you want – providing it’s practical for us to make it that size.
As all the buildings we make at Shields Buildings are bespoke, they are made to your specific requirements. So you really can have the building you want at the size you want.
The team will guide and advise you in the preparation process. They often make little suggestions on how your building could be even better. Additionally, looking at the location for your proposed building and discussing what you plan to use it for means we really can make a building to suit your needs.
In this case study our customer had two timber buildings installed at the same time:
We made both buildings to the highest specification. They even had synthetic slate roofs to match the customer’s home. The car parking shelter was a top-spec carport with an oak frontage and granite staddle stone plinths. It also had galvanised guttering for a truly special finish.
As an additional feature, the store had a side extension to make an area suitable for storing logs. We even added a side panel to it to protect the logs from the weather, a lovely little extra finishing touch.
This project is a very good example of how we worked with the customer to overcome obstacles. The main challenge was the location of the ride-on mower storage, as it was on a steep slope. Together, we worked towards a solution that would allow for the mower to be driven right into the shed.
We levelled the access route in front of the doors by using compacted quarry stone. We also made a pair of purpose-built wooden ramps to fit the slope. To take the mower’s weight, we constructed the shed’s base using concrete blocks to support the timber floor.
We did all of this in very wet weather, which certainly added to the challenge!!
The ride-on mower shed features large, wide doors with a high-security lock installed on them. A great addition to make your shed safe and secure and you don’t have to worry about padlocks.
Being quite spacious there’s plenty of room in the store on either side of the mower, and a bench in front of the window for a workspace and storage. It's a clever little building, and we're very pleased with it, as is the customer.
