At Shields Buildings, we exist to provide you with stunning garden buildings that enhance your property. Our timber buildings can give you more space, and help you get more enjoyment from your life.
We've been designing, manufacturing, and installing bespoke garden buildings across the southwest since 1991. So, when you choose us, you lean on over 30 years of experience and happy customers.
I don’t know how much you know about us, so let me explain. When we started the business, to be honest, it was a bit of an accident!
John was a farmer. Farming the land that had been in the family for generations (and still is!). Unsurprisingly, this meant he was pretty good with his hands, making outdoor structures and buildings for a variety of uses. From stables for the animals to silos for the grain and offices for the workers.
Over time, John became rather notorious for creating buildings that were pleasant to be in. His buildings withstood the elements and were a serious cut above the standard outdoor buildings out there. Soon friends and family started enquiring about him creating bespoke garden buildings for them too.
So he did. At first, it was a home office here, a double garage there, but then more and more enquiries started coming in. Which meant less farming and more building.
Over 30 years on, we make buildings to order all over the South West. We pride ourselves on producing high-quality timber buildings that perfectly provide for the needs of our customers.
The key to our success has been a combination of our hard-won experience and our desire to ensure we cater for a changing and moving market. We're constantly evolving. Always introducing new products and materials all with the aim of delivering you a building that you'll love.
We work closely with you to provide the perfect building to suit your needs in the space you have available. Our team are always ready to have a conversation to help get your ideas translated and your building designed.
As you'd expect we only use the highest quality materials and employ skilled craftspeople giving you the peace of mind that your building will last and stand the test of time.
With a combination building, you have a mix of an insulated section and a non-insulated section. So, you can have one building for two uses. People usually have something like an office and storage for garden tools and equipment.
Combination buildings also cover the bespoke more unusual one-off type of buildings such as log stores, gazebos, and outdoor bars.
All Shields buildings are bespoke and made to order. So you have the final say on exactly where, how many, and how big your windows or doors are. Other options that are custom are the exact size that you want your building to be.
We work with you to advise on best practices, but you’re free to have what you want, how you want it. Which means that you’re not stuck with standard sizing.
