There’s only really one thing to talk about this week, and it’s not the leadership campaign! Instead, the inescapable reality of the heatwave.
I hope you’re managing to stay safe and cool – things suddenly got rather hot here yesterday, so the workshop team scooted off home, but not before they had an ice cream!
We’ve had quite a few enquiries from people wondering whether we can create garden buildings that stay cool in the hot weather, so I figured it would make sense to share something a few customers opt for:
Tinted glass.
We’re currently in the middle of a project where we’re using tinted glass instead of the regular glazing, and it works to reduce the temperature inside the building by 60-70%.
Yes, it does reduce the light that comes in, although not by as much as you’d think; only around 10%.
Depending on the position of your timber garden building, and how regularly you want to use it, tinted glass could be a good option – paired with insulation, it will allow you to have a building that’s fit for purpose all year around, whatever the weather throws at us.
It comes in four colours, all of which marry up with the colour of your uPVC windows: Blue for Anthracite uPVC, Green for Chartwell Green uPVC, Grey for White uPVC and Brown for timber effect uPVC.
If you’d like to talk tinted glass, or anything else to do with timber garden buildings, get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
