Garden studios

It was the North Tawton Art Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, with plenty on for the budding artists in our community. We enjoyed an art trail, the exhibition at the Community Centre, and a fabulous collection of Phyllis Harris’s work, but my favourite bit?

The Open Studios, each one an opportunity to peer into the world of our local artists, see the space they use to create, as well as the fruits of their labour.

Studios continue to be one of our most popular timber building types, with lots of customers keen for dedicated spaces where they can get really creative.

Thankfully for me, on the rare occasion I find myself with time to paint, I have a readymade studio at our display site I can escape to.

I’m still waiting for John to display an artistic streak – his carpentry skills show he’s got the dexterity, and his father took up painting in later life, so if he’s a chip off the old block, maybe he’ll join me in the studio one day!
