Busy but normal

It’s a big week in the Shields household this week.

The A-Level results are in, (good news thankfully!) and at the same time John is up to his ears in busyness for his role as this year’s president of the 113^th Okehampton Show.

And I’ll be honest, it feels weird to be typing that sentence.

 The idea of doing something as normal as the Okehampton Show has seemed laughable for the last 18 months, while the insecurity of education has made me wonder whether A-Level results would ever come!

And yet, here we are – a busy week that seems to signal the return of normality, at least in our house.

If I’m honest, it feels good to be soaking up the stresses of the Shields family as we prepare for an important week; as much as stresses are never nice, the ordinariness of them is somewhat refreshing!

All over the country, people are doing the same as us, getting back to the things they love, and getting on with their lives.

Of course, many of us have changed priorities and lifestyles in the last two years – more time at home, more effort to have time to ourselves, and if you’re in that boat, and your post-pandemic life would benefit from a timber garden building, home office, or garage then why not get the ball rolling, before the busyness of life takes over?
