Now it's official, we can go on holiday this summer

Now it’s official – we can go on holiday this summer. The government finally released the list of countries on the ‘air bridge’ list last week, prompting holidaymakers to jump online, or head to their local agent to book something up.

Not me though. We were supposed to be going to America this summer, and that’s clearly not happening.

But I’m also wondering about going anywhere at all.

Don’t get me wrong. I love a holiday as much as the next person, but I just wonder how much of a holiday it will be, with enforced social distancing and Perspex screens everywhere.

Part of the joy of holidays for me is the chance to experience a different culture. I can’t help but feel that Covid-19 will make that more challenging.

And that’s before we even get started on the rigmarole that will definitely be waiting for us at the airport!

I’ve no doubt that people will still get away, and have a great time, but we’re weighing it up. We’re not sure quite what our next step will be.

What’s clear though, based on many conversations with customers in recent days is that plenty of people are eschewing air travel and sticking to the UK.

Some people are camping or caravanning. Others are staying in hotels by the coast, while plenty of others aren’t actually planning on going away at all, save a few daytrips here and there.

Instead, they’re spending time and effort on making their home the perfect place for a staycation.

Goodness knows we’ve all spent enough time at home this year, which means that the strengths and weaknesses of our properties have been entirely laid bare.

For us, that’s translated into lots of people recognising their need for more space, which is why we’re getting a steady stream of enquiries for offices, studios and workshops.

And whatever your plans for this summer, if you know that a garden building would enhance your time at home, then let’s talk. The sooner we do, the quicker we can help turn an idea into reality!
