Timber Workshop Buildings

Back to Timber Garden Buildings

What will you use your timber garden building for?

Gone are the days when a workshop was just a workshop! You can add extra space to your home by having your own place for your hobby, for working in and of course for storing garden equipment and machinery, mowers and cycles or motorbikes, or for you to tinker with your engine or model railway.

If you plan to spend time working in there you may like to consider having your ‘Man Cave’  or ‘She Shed’ insulated, see Timber Offices for more details and exciting ideas.

You will find our timber workshop buildings come in all shapes and sizes, with great attention to detail in all aspects of the design and construction.  We work with you to provide the perfect building for your space and needs. Typically, workshops are a larger version of a shed.

Made to last

Built around a substantial wooden framework, your building is made to last. The heavy-duty framing and walls are strong enough to support your shelves and tool racks.

You don’t have to worry either, if you want to put heavy objects in your workshop, as the timber floors (18mm OSB board) are designed with close joist spacings to take heavy weights. Our price includes the base work for timber-floored buildings, with concrete block piers and timber bearers to take the floor. All that we ask is that you prepare a level site ready for us. You can also have a concrete floor if required.

The timber

All the external  timber we use is northern European redwood, from sustainable and well managed sources. It is pressure treated, for two reasons - to protect against attack from wood boring beetles or termites and against fungal decay. The colour fades over time, but the chemicals carry on working to keep your building as good as new. Your bespoke timber workshop will be given extra protection against the weather with two coats of water proofer, or if you prefer, painted in a wide range of colours giving a personal touch.

Roof  options

You have a range of roofing options to choose from – a pent or low profile apex roof with long lasting plastisol steel sheeting in a range of colours to enhance your new building, or cedar shingles to blend in beautifully with your garden.

Do you need Planning Permission?

A question that we get asked regularly is ‘Do I need planning permission for my new timber garden building?’ Many garden buildings will not need permission, but you are always advised to check first, or give us a call if you need more help.

As this can often be a bit daunting we offer a Planning Application service to help you. Let our experienced team prepare and submit the application for you along with the detailed drawings and plans required.
