I’ve been looking for a new car for a little while now, and while browsing around, one thing has become abundantly clear: The electric revolution is here.
With more electric options on the market than ever before, and the government pushing forward towards their 2030 deadline on new petrol and diesel cars, it’s no surprise to see more and more ‘e-vehicles’ on the road.
The knock-on effect is that a lot more people need electric charging points at their properties, and it’s something we’re beginning to factor into our timber garage and carport designs.
A recent example is a carport we created for Mr B. The customer in question had an existing concrete parking space, but for obvious reasons wanted a double carport to protect his vehicles.
And with one of them being electric, he needed a charging point too.
The site was on a significant slope, which added a challenge (which we like!), so we got to work digging back into the bank and building up the front of the carport to make it level.
We also designed the carport with an offset ridge, so that solar panels can be added to the roof to assist with providing power for charging the car.
Not our usual type of timber carport, but the kind of job we’re more than capable of, and expect to do more of in the years ahead – if you’d like to talk about carports or garages, with or without charging capability, let us know!
