Real slate or not?

We’ve been super busy with installs recently, but there was one from last week that I thought might be quite interesting to share with you.

A lot of our customers come to us wanting a slate roof, and really: who can blame them?

Slate looks fantastic, and allows your building to really blend in.

However, a slate roof isn’t right for everyone, and there are two main reasons why:

1. They’re not cheap
   Slate roofs are extremely beautiful, but they also come at a price significant enough that they don’t always fall within peoples’ budgets.

2. They require a reinforced building
   Because slate is so heavy, you can’t just slap a slate roof on a standard garden building and hope for the best.  Your building will need to be reinforced to cope with the roof, which – again - impacts the price.

The good news is that you can get that ‘slate’ look without the price tag or a reinforced building.

Our synthetic slate option can be installed on roofs as low as a 14-degree pitch.

They’re textured and shaped like natural slate, but because they aren’t actually slate, they cost a lot less, and because they’re synthetic, you can get them in different colours to blend in with the other roofs on your property.

It won’t crack. 

It won’t break.

It won’t delaminate.
