Parrot House

Pretty Polly

We often get asked about the sort of garden buildings we make here at Shields Buildings. And really, it’s a bit like the ‘how long is a piece of string?’ type question.

Because the reality is that we can and do make pretty much anything. Yes, there are ‘standard’ sheds and garages, but not a week goes by without a weird and wonderful request.

And because everything we build is handmade, totally bespoke and designed to meet the customer’s precise requirements, we can pretty much always make it happen.

A case in point is a Parrot House we produced earlier this year.

Yes, you read that right: a Parrot House.

Our customer owns several African grey parrots, who needed their own special space, with direct access to their aviary. For obvious reasons, a standard, cookie-cutter building wouldn’t really cut the mustard, so she came to us.

These beautiful birds now have an incredibly luxurious home – fully insulated, specific lighting, power, heating, bright wallpaper and synthetic grass on the floor.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere for pretty Polly to live, you’ve got an even more unusual request, or you need something slightly more conventional that will be built to last, we can help. Just get in touch and let’s get started designing your perfect timber garden building today.

Planning permission
When does a timber building need planning permission? Many buildings will not need permission, but you are always advised to check first.
