We often get asked about the sort of garden buildings we make here at Shields Buildings. And really, it’s a bit like the ‘how long is a piece of string?’ type question.

Because the reality is that we can and do make pretty much anything. Yes, there are ‘standard’ sheds and garages, but not a week goes by without a weird and wonderful request.

And because everything we build is handmade, totally bespoke and designed to meet the customer’s precise requirements, we can pretty much always make it happen.

A case in point is a Parrot House we produced earlier this year.

Yes, you read that right: a Parrot House.

Our customer owns several African grey parrots, who needed their own special space, with direct access to their aviary. For obvious reasons, a standard, cookie-cutter building wouldn’t really cut the mustard, so she came to us.

These beautiful birds now have an incredibly luxurious home – fully insulated, specific lighting, power, heating, bright wallpaper and synthetic grass on the floor.
