Man cave or she shed?

Paul’s Man Cave -

Having recently moved house to Taunton, Paul was looking to have his own hobby room/office. There wasn’t a suitable space in the house, or rather, his wife Charlotte didn’t want all his ‘stuff’ cluttering up their lovely new home! But, they did have a great spot in the garden where Paul could have his very own Man Cave.

A 5m x 3.5m insulated building was designed with oak uPVC windows and an apex roof, giving lots of space and good height inside.

It has proved such a useful cosy working space that Charlotte has her eye on a corner of it too!

Like a lot of men of a certain age, I always dreamed of having my own ‘Man Cave’. In addition to the ‘no problem’ attitude, the team at Shields Buildings also offered some very useful advice about fitting out the interior. I now have a Man Cave that is everything I had hoped for – and the envy of friends and family!

Liz’s Craft Workshop -

Being recently retired, Liz was relishing the thought of spending more time on her hobby creating textile art. She needed her own space where she could do her crafts in comfort and leave her materials out without them being disturbed.

Liz’s 5m x 2.5m insulated building was designed with 2 roof lights to give the additional daylight that she needed. The apex roof was constructed with a canopy, which not only looks very attractive, but provides protection from the weather.

Over the last fifteen years we have been delighted with John Shields buildings of various kinds. Many, many thanks John to you and all the team for yet another lovely structure in our garden, fit for purpose, robust, warm and lovely to look at.  I can’t wait to get started in there!

James’s Gym -

James chose to have his building 4m x 3m. He needed it large enough to accommodate his rowing machine, weight lifting equipment and a treadmill. We installed an insulated plywood floor over a concrete base, so the floor is more than a match for the weight loads that will be placed on it. The double glazed window, insulated walls and roof ensures the building stays warm even in cold weather.

Now James has no excuse for not getting on with his exercise regime!

The building meets all my requirements for a home gym, both practically and aesthetically. Having a gym at the bottom of the garden is a great motivator and I find it much more convenient than using a commercial gym!
