A few weeks back I mentioned that work was well underway for our double carport. And now I’m delighted to say that it’s complete!
After months of telling John that I needed somewhere to put my car, he made it happen, but the cruel irony is that my car was commandeered almost at exactly the same time we cut the ribbon.
Don’t worry, it’s not a police matter – our eldest daughter’s just passed her driving test, so the chances of me getting hold of the keys has dropped dramatically. Which means it’s time for a new car, and for the first time in a while, I don’t need something entirely sensible – with no school runs, and the girls able to transport themselves around, practicality isn’t quite such an issue.
My favourite ever car was a Saab 93 convertible, all black, with grey leather interior.
I absolutely loved driving it, and the kids loved being in it too – we had huge amounts of fun, so I’m thinking it could be time for a soft-top again.
Obviously getting a Saab isn’t really an option in 2021, so I’m considering an Audi A3 convertible – I’m hoping it’ll give me the fun feeling we used to get from the Saab, with all the modern comforts that come with a contemporary car.
Thanks to John, I know that whatever I go for will be well protected from the elements, but I heard somewhere it will stop raining sometime this year, so I’m thinking that being able to put the roof down might be quite nice too.
I’m not fixed on the Audi, but it’s definitely in the boxseat – if you’ve got any other recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
Oh, and if you’d like to see the finished double carport, here it is in all its glory…
