On visiting our display site Mr and Mrs D were immediately drawn to our ZERO range – zero maintenance, zero planning, zero hassle.
They zeroed in (see what we did there?!) on a 5x3m studio, and the process began, with our team heading out for a site visit.
After ironing out some access issues, our team got to work, crafting the building on-site here at Shields Buildings, and delivering and assembling the ZERO studio, ready to be enjoyed by our customers.
Overcoming Obstacles
One of the biggest challenges on this project was limited site access, particularly a 6ft boundary wall that stood between the delivery point and the studio’s final position.
With no direct route in, our team had to carefully reverse a flatbed transit up an incredibly steep driveway, bringing in one wall panel at a time due to their size and weight — some exceeding 100kg.
Each panel was then manually lifted over the wall by a coordinated team of six.
A steep slope at the rear of the garden further complicated matters, and with no way of getting a digger onto the site, the team hand-dug and removed over four tonnes of soil to level the ground, reducing a one-meter drop and creating a suitable base area.
The base construction alone took four full days, and the commitment and teamwork shown by the site team were key to overcoming these demanding conditions.
What Was Achieved
The finished ZERO studio is stunning, paired with a beautifully laid patio arranged by the client, with the whole space that incorporating an existing tree, and creating something truly unique and tranquil.
Designed as a dual-purpose yoga and massage studio with home office functionality, it blends effortlessly into the garden while making the most of its elevated position.
Large windows provide stunning views of the sea and surrounding sandbanks, turning the space into a peaceful retreat just steps from the client’s home. The result is a bespoke, multi-functional sanctuary — a little piece of paradise in their own back garden.
