Working Together
The project began when Mr T and his wife visited us on one of our Open Saturdays and was impressed by the quality and variety of our timber buildings. Inspired by what they saw, they approached us with a vision for a highly bespoke garden room.
We worked closely with them to bring it to life and a 4m x 3.4m building with a 1.6m canopy and composite decking was created. It had to suit both the challenge of their sloping garden and provide suitable space for their lifestyle.
Through regular communication and a flexible approach, we ensured every detail reflected their needs, resulting in a truly unique and beautifully crafted garden room.
Overcoming Obstacles
This project presented several logistical and technical challenges that required careful planning and adaptability. It started with an 80-metre carry distance from the driveway to the build site, every panel had to be transported manually by our team, which took a lot of time and effort!
The site itself was on a steep 21-degree slope, making traditional foundations unsuitable. To address this, we opted for ground screws, which provided a stable and efficient solution for the uneven terrain.
Additionally, the customer wanted to have underfloor heating which was something we hadn’t integrated into a building before. Whilst we didn’t install the heating systems ourselves, we ensured the subfloor was finished to the precise level specifications required by the tiler.
To garden room was positioned to make the most of the stunning garden and coastal views, so we incorporated a large front balcony. This added both a functional space and a standout feature to the finished building.
What Was Achieved
The result was a beautifully crafted timber garden room that also functions as a year-round office space. Fully insulated and fitted with underfloor heating, it offers comfort in every season.
The building has been thoughtfully positioned to maximise the wonderful views of the sea and surrounding gardens, and complete with a front balcony, the garden room provides a peaceful, secluded retreat that blends practicality with a strong connection to its natural setting.
