Mr F first approached us with detailed planning permission drawings for a substantial pent garage—measuring 11.8 metres in length and 6.7 metres in width—with four bays incorporating a dedicated internal log store area.
To ensure the design met every requirement, Mr F made several visits to our display site, with these meetings proving invaluable, allowing us to:
1 – Discuss the materials
2 – Refine the layout
3 – Ensure every element aligned precisely with the approved plans.
This hands-on approach ensured complete clarity at every stage, so we could deliver a bespoke structure that fulfilled the practical needs of the client and remained fully compliant with their planning permission.
Overcoming Obstacles
With a building of this scale, the large roof surface area presented a challenge in terms of water management.
To address this, we calculated the expected water volumes and specified deep flow guttering to ensure effective drainage, protecting the structure and surrounding area.
Another consideration was the customer’s plan to fit roller doors after our build was complete.
To accommodate this, we precisely manufactured the door apertures to the required dimensions, ensuring a seamless installation later.
In the final stages, the customer decided to add a timber tongue and groove door to the log store section. This last-minute request was easily handled by our workshop, where we custom-made a door to fit the opening perfectly.
What Was Achieved
The completed garage is a highly practical and versatile space, designed to serve the customer’s needs for secure storage, vehicle protection, and easy access.
With four generous bays, it comfortably accommodates multiple vehicles and machinery, while the inclusion of a dedicated log store adds further convenience. Thoughtful features like deep-flow guttering ensure the building can stand the test of time in all weather, and the structure is ready to integrate seamlessly with the customer’s roller doors. Built to last and tailored for daily use, this garage offers both reliability and flexibility in one smart, timber-framed solution.
