When Mr and Mrs Miles Ambler moved into their dream house in Devon all they needed to complete the perfect picture was some additional space for their hobbies. Being new to the area their initial search for a timber frame garage was via the internet followed by a visit to the display area at Shields Buildings confirmed their impression of a professional business where attention to detail was key.
Miles had a pretty good idea of the building he wanted, but was delighted when the Shields team came up with some clever options to make the end-product much more usable and flexible. By creating a triple-bay structure that was then sectioned-off to incorporate a classic car workshop and a tractor garage meant part of the building was more utilitarian and part more comfortable with appropriate heating and light.
Matching the building to the location is always paramount, so traditional garage doors were chosen to match existing farm buildings. In a similar vein, John suggested a dark wood stain to give the structure a more traditional appearance; again in-keeping with a nearby barn. However, for the windows and doors the latest timber-look uPVC was chosen because they really do look like wood, but are almost completely maintenance-free, draught proof and secure.
