Double Carport
Working Together
This one was a slightly different job, with Mrs Shields as the customer!
For a long time, Jacqueline wanted somewhere safe and dry to house her car, but with only a single carport, it wasn’t a possibility. With a new car on the horizon for 2021 it was now going to have to get to the top of the list of priorities.
Rather than installing another carport or garage and taking up more space, John and Jacqueline decided on a double carport, which would provide more than enough room for both vehicles.
Overcoming Obstacles
The key to a carport is having plenty of space to open all the car doors, which meant plenty of testing to ensure the right height, length and width. This is something that is discussed with all customers.
Taking this into account and based on the space available, it was decided to dig into the bank a little and have the carport a ‘large double’.
What Was Achieved
We wanted the carport to be sturdy, yet rustic, so opted for Douglas Fir for the frontage, and upgraded to synthetic slate for the apex roof. In keeping with this we also upgraded to galvanised guttering on the front of the building.
Jacqueline’s new car is now protected from the elements, with plenty of space to open the doors, and husband and wife are both happy!
